dear world, burn me

gluttonous eyes of skin
stretched wide like a net
forcing the inevitability
of mass collision
and ingestion
until your whole self dilates
in response
as the world gets bigger
and you see
the river holds stories
as women
wash the days from their clothes
and morning mists
wrap you in their knowing
that time isn't and never was
a straight line.

pressed against the stones
the dirt
the sky
the world
made beautiful sense
and whilst the earth
turned red and green,
all i saw was gold.
