like a polar rose

the sun's parting kiss
shone through the veil
we invented in the days
of blood and black roses
when the story etched
on frozen water
shattered
like the glass rooms
we build and inhabit.

now all that remains
are these nocturnes
and pockets full of teeth.

like a moth i follow
always these trails of fire
that forever
scorch the ground
leading the way
as the apples fall in time
at our blackened
but determined feet
like cursed gifts of fate.

I wish you had a book filled with your words.
I would buy the very first edition,
and wrap it around with a pink ribbon.
Every day I would take it down and read those words.
While the music box played.
Thank you,
once more.

...such longing. you can see it (the longing) sauntering between the lines (at least i do, arms folded, back curved like a crescent moon.
